DALAX / FUEDI

The Danish Association of Loss Adjusting Experts (DALAX) was founded in 1994 in Copenhagen, Denmark by Flemming Leif Hansen to promote and safeguard the member's professional interests externally as well as internally. The association accepts as member's persons as well as companies from which the personal members exercise their profession.
The Associations main objectives are to:

  1. Promote and protect the member's professional standard
  2. Represent the members to the claimant and their organization, in matters of general professional importance
  3. Represent the members towards the public authorities and mass media in any case of common interest or importance for the profession
  4. Represent the members towards profession-related international organizations
  5. Specify educational diploma/training programs to provide the required level of expertise that are required by FUEDI.

Especially the last point has been a main focus area for DALAX the last years as it is a cornerstone for DALAX that all Adjusters in Denmark possess at minimum a bachelor degree combined with a high and uniform insurance knowledge in order that the work performed meets the requirements of DALAX in respect of standards and quality; thus the Adjusters are always acknowledged and respected by the clients for their professionalism. To this respect we in DALAX have utilised the extensive knowledge that both FUEDI and CILA have to offer in order for us to insure that our training and education system fulfils all requirements that can and will be required in the future.

Therefore, in 1997 DALAX in close cooperation with FUEDI and CILA established an official education system in Denmark for education of Loss Adjusting Experts.

The education system that DALAX established requires all our members to follow 5 courses at The Danish Insurance Institute after which the Board of DALAX evaluate their theoretical and practical skills. This combined with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the independent Loss Adjusting business makes them ready for the FUEDI-ELAE title.

The courses are:

  1. The principles of insurance / general insurance
  2. Insurance law
  3. Claims Handling I, Contents
  4. Claims Handling II, Buildings
  5. Claims Handling III, Specialist Adjusting

The Danish Insurance Institute, which DALAX uses for all theoretical education, is the joint Education & Training Centre for Denmark's insurance industry. The Institute is a privately held limited company, owned by more than 120 organisations and financial institutions, all with interests in the insurance business.
